History of the laboratory
Dendrochronologically lab was established in the framework already established Laboratories Archaeobotany and paleoecology (LAPE) at the Faculty of Biology of University of South Bohemia in 2002. Laboratory Archaeobotany and paleoecology with a wide range of analyzes in Archaeobotany, environmental archeology and paleoecology (makrozbytková, xylotomická, palynology, archaeozoology).
The basic focus of the laboratory
Dendrochronological work serves mainly to teach at the Faculty of Philosophy and the University of South Bohemia and to independent research students typically in the Laboratory Archaeobotany and paleoecology. The primary purpose is to ensure the dendrochronological dating of wooden structures and objects within the current projects Laboratories Archaeobotany and paleoecology. In the long term work deals mainly with issues of dating buildings in southern Bohemia and constructing regional chronologies for each sub-region especially in relation to altitude, and also changing the tree species used for construction in the past. The laboratory is also engaged dendroklimatologickým analysis of growth reactions in Šumava spruce forest and wetlands issues.
The laboratory equipment
The laboratory is equipped with a meter TimeTable Austrian production, which is connected to a computer using a microplate reader module Parser v1.3. For measurement and dating of samples is used PAST4 software.
